Education and understanding are at the heart of a confident birth. Whatever path you choose, being informed helps you feel calm, capable and in control. These sessions aren’t about promoting a particular way to give birth- they’re about helping you make decisions that feel right for you, grounded in knowledge and confidence.
A complete birth preparation course designed to help you feel informed, confident and ready for labour, birth and the early days with your baby.
We’ll meet in your home (or a venue of your choosing) for four structured sessions. This course is designed to give you a clear, grounded understanding of pregnancy, labour, birth and early life with a newborn, without overwhelming you.
We begin with a core session, focusing on how your body works in pregnancy and labour, how labour typically unfolds, how to recognise what’s normal and how to make informed decisions as things change.
The remaining sessions explore key themes in more depth, including pain and comfort in labour, practical preparation, variations in birth such as induction, assisted birth, caesarean section and VBAC, and preparation for life after birth including feeding, newborn care and early recovery. Rather than covering everything at once, this approach keeps education calm, relevant and responsive. The aim is to reduce fear and build confidence by helping you understand what’s happening, why it matters and how to work with your body rather than against it.
Antenatal education is planned to be completed by 36 weeks, allowing time for information to settle and confidence to build before the final weeks of pregnancy.
This preparation supports you to feel informed and steady, whatever your birth looks like and wherever it happens, whether at home, in a birth centre or on a labour ward. Where possible, I encourage both parents to attend. Learning together helps you support one another during labour and adjust as a team in those early days and weeks.
We’ll meet in your home (or a venue of your choosing) for a single, focused session. This is a personalised space to explore exactly what you need, in depth.
That might include working through a birth plan, understanding pain relief options, preparing for a specific type of birth, talking through feeding decisions, or simply getting clear, honest answers to the questions that feel most important to you right now. Because we only have two hours, this isn’t a condensed version of the full course. Instead, it’s a calm, practical session shaped entirely around your needs.
This option is ideal if you don’t want a full course but would value time with someone who is qualified, experienced and on your side. Where possible, I encourage both parents to attend, as it gives your partner space to ask questions and feel confident in how to support you. Being on the same page makes the experience more aligned and supportive for everyone.
